Of Shade and Of Light

I have been on a constant look out for a palette that is great for everyday use and for those special occasions. I know there are great drugstore palettes out there but I just wanted to splurge a little bit for something that I will be able to use. Finally, the Kat Von D. Shade and Light eye palette arrived in Sephora Singapore stores and I was ecstatic. I ordered online and used my shopback account so I was able to save a bit more for my bucks. They also had a black card member exclusive wherein you can get a mini Kat Von D. tattoo liner in the shade trooper for every two products bought. In the end I bought the palette and the everlasting liquid lipstick in Lolita II. Using the coupon code I got from shopback, I was able to get a free Sephora pouch as well. I did not pay for any delivery fee which was also quite a saving. Finally, my mini haul arrived and here is my verdict for the eye palette. I will be posting another review for the liquid lipstick.

First of all, let us pause and admire the packaging. Kat Von D. products are not only make-up, they are also a work of art. The palette is heavy (in a good way) and does not feel cheap. If you like the outside packaging, you won't be disappointed with what's inside.

Once you open up the palette, you will be greeted with 12 all matte eyeshadows, arranged like its three quads combined in one. It also comes with a pamphlet with 6 different looks for you to copy or serve as a guide; great for beginners like me. There are also a lot of You tube make up gurus who used this palette for their tutorials.

Here are the three quads up close with their names on it. Yes, there may be dupes out there for these shades but the quality and pigmentation of each eyeshadow is really worth the money. It is also cruelty free. All the colors are easy to blend and build up. A little goes a long way due to it's pigmentation so sometimes I have to be careful to take a bit of the product into my brush. I know that this palette has already been in the market for quite some time but I think that it will be here to stay.
