The last time I played an instrument was when I was still studying, during my grade school days where it is a requirement in music class. I am not fond of playing musical instruments but I love listening to music. Spotify is one of my go-to applications for streaming music in my phone. I decided to pick-up an instrument that is easy to carry and fun to learn. I bought myself a Ukelele. I did not know where to buy one here in Singapore so I tried to search in Carousell. I found a seller with quite a number of positive reviews and bought my ukelele from her (bought at SGD 45 with the tuner) Click on the link or on my ukelele to find her Carousell page:

There are several applications that can help with tuning your ukelele but I learned from one Youtuber that a clip-on tuner is still better. I had to do my own research as I don't want to pay for any lesson at the moment. Luckily, I came across Cynthia Lin. I learned a lot from her because she will really guide you through step-by-step and you will be able to play a song in no time. There are other tutorials in You tube but I found hers to be the most helpful and easiest to learn from. She recommends to practice at least 5-10 minutes per day to build up callus so that it won't be painful to play (which I assure you will be the case when you begin to learn uke). It was fun and painful at the same time but there is a certain feeling of accomplishment after you finish learning one song and is able to move to the next lesson. "Practice makes perfect" is such a cliche but it is really what we need to do if we want to achieve something.

I leave you with a video of Cynthia's first lesson, Bob Marley's, Three Little Birds. For those who are learning ukelele, I hope that you find this video very useful. If you haven't picked up an instrument yet, it is never too late to try. Aloha!
