We are celebrating Nurses Day and as a nurse, I am happy to have a day dedicated to us. It makes us feel appreciated for our work and gives us a sense of fulfilment. Here is a poem I wrote last year to pay tribute to our nurses on this special day.
Anatomy of a Nurse
A nurse' eyes knows no color or race
It only sees the expressions on your face.
With just one look she knows something is wrong
While you're asleep, she's awake all night long.
A nurse' ear will hear your demand
Even when you shout she will try to understand
She is always ready to lend you her ear
For she knows if she listens your worries will disappear.
A nurse' hands works with skill
To dress your wounds, the pain you won't feel.
When you seem so fragile or weak
Her hands can give comfort, there is no need to speak.
A nurse's feet are always prepared
In case of emergencies,do not be scared.
She thinks fast and acts quickly
With your life on the line she will be there swiftly.
Ears to listen, eyes to see
These parts comprise a nurse to be
Hands to hold,feet so bold
But what completes her is something untold.
A nurse's heart, full of compassion.
Being a nurse is not just a profession
A nurse' heart is not fulfilled by wealth
But by the smile of her patient who regained his health.
