From Bleh to So Meee

I went to Plaza Singapura last Saturday (13/8/15) to buy some supplies from Spotlight and low and behold, there is a Body Shop sale in the atrium. I scoured through the sea of people to find some great stuff on sale. When I was paying for the stuff, I saw a plain clutch bag worth 5 SGD. I thought I could give it some zest so I bought it. I also got some fabric paint from Spotlight for 5.50 SGD each. I will use it for a pillowcase that I want to DIY. I bought gold and black paint.

When I reached home, I took the clutch and just let creativity take over. I had some left over chain which I bought from Beadspin in 20 Tampines Central 1 #01-17 (near Tampines MRT Stn). I measured the chain with the length of my sling bag strap. You can also estimate the length of the chain by standing in front of a mirror and just putting the bag on the desired height where the bag will lie. Stitch the chain into the sides of the clutch and make a small stitch so that it won't be obvious.

Since the bag is black, I decided to paint it gold. I searched in Pinterest for an easy design to paint into the bag. I let it dry overnight and was happy with the end result. I had a wire wrapped sea glass that I did about a year ago and decided to attached it into the chain using a jump ring.

You can make your own version of a clutch turned into a sling bag by following the steps above. Just let your creativity take over and get inspiration from Pinterest or Tumblr. Use what you have on hand or buy some supplies from Spotlight (Plaza Singapura level 5). They are cheap and can be used for your other craft projects as well. I spent roughly about 10 SGD in total to turn this bag from bleh to so meee.
